The Nearly Devastating Day

Yesterday my sweet, tenderhearted and rambunctious little man turned 3. It seems like just yesterday I was blogging about his entry into the world. These days, I'm feeling extra thankful for him.

This past summer we were camping in BC. We were at an extended family members home for a laundry and swimming stop. We had drilled the kids in the car about water safety not going near the water without their floaties on.

The Day I Almost Lost My Man

This is the day it all began. 

This very day 13 years ago, Mike asked me to be his girlfriend. One year after that, he said I love you for the first time. 

Last year, this was the day he got lost, and I am every so thankful it was also the day he was found. One year later, I'm glad there are 4 things this day marks and not only 3.

The Road to Healing

I was visiting with a neighbor of mine not too long ago and we got talking about our parents. I quickly learned quickly that her mom had died suddenly in the years following her high school graduation. I briefly shared about my dad’s illness and how he’d passed on 3 years ago. She looked at me somewhat surprised and said, “You can talk about it? It hasn't been that long.” I thought for a moment about why that is. It’s not because I’m some strong person. It’s not because it wasn't hard or painful. It’s because God is a healer.
