Part 2: When God Said No {Reasons we don't ask God and what to do about it}
There were lots of things I asked God for in that season. Of course, I asked Him to fully physically heal my dad along with so many other prayer warriors. I remember the day a family friend said to me, God will heal your dad. It's just a matter of on which side of heaven. Many petitions were made. Some were answered. Some were not.
On August 17, 2009 God's answer was yes, but not on the side of heaven like we'd hoped.
Part 1: Asking God {Lessons from Go Fish}
Recently, Go Fish has joined the repertoire of things we play at our house.
She and I had only played with 2 players but this time she invited her little brother to play. He sat down, eager to participate, clumsily holding his cards, and ready to follow the rules explained to him. He successfully matched what he held in his hand and waited for his turn.
Running the Race & Finishing Well {Lessons from the Half Marathon}
After successfully completing an 8 km run earlier that year, my wonderful ambitious running partner had a brilliant idea of us signing up for a half marathon, 21.1 km. At the end of June, we signed ourselves up for the Canmore Rocky Mountain Half Marathon with every intention of being prepared. It wasn't long before the good intention quickly became classified as seemed like a good idea at the time.

God was clear about that the other day in His Word. 1 Peter 4:1-3. It's time to live with resolve. Like Jesus did. Enough time has been wasted. Live the remaining time for God's will. Because you're prone to squirrels and shiny things, those eyes need to be fixed. Fix your eyes on Jesus.
The Fight for Freedom in Our Families
This girl. Her brain is like Velcro. She remembers everything. I'm trying not to exaggerate but I think everything is a pretty accurate descriptor.
On Saturday we were driving and both big kids were chatting. Almost every sentence started with, "Mom, on Secret Life of Pets..." Every sentence.
The Nearly Devastating Day
Yesterday my sweet, tenderhearted and rambunctious little man turned 3. It seems like just yesterday I was blogging about his entry into the world. These days, I'm feeling extra thankful for him.
This past summer we were camping in BC. We were at an extended family members home for a laundry and swimming stop. We had drilled the kids in the car about water safety not going near the water without their floaties on.
