Sports, Sundays and Sabbath

I went to Bible college in a small town. Things were slow in that small town. I remember trying to go to IGA once on a weeknight. It was like 6:03 PM and main street was a ghost town. I came from the city where you can get a junior bacon cheeseburger at 2 AM if you want This was NEW to me. There was one restaurant open on Sunday afternoons.... maybe 1-4 PM and other than that, NOTHING. The town was literally closed. People were resting.

Where to Focus Your Mind After a Blindside

Last week I got an unexpected phone call from my hubby. "So... there are rumors floating around that a whole bunch of people were laid off today. I'm not really sure what's happening. I'll keep you posted." If you're familiar with the economic situation in Alberta right now, you're probably thinking that shouldn't have been a surprise. But it was...

No matter who you are or where you live, I'd be willing to bet that at some point, you have experienced a blindside.

Fighting for Unity in Divided Times

I just love Costco It's one of my favorite places to shop. I also hate it. Costco is the best place to go if I want to end up buying things I didn't know I needed. A few extras at Costco can quickly add up to more than  few dollars if you know what I mean.

Social media generates the same mixed emotions. It's the fastest way to get the word out about something important to me. It's also a fast and easy way to fill my mind with ideas, issues, things and details of strangers lives I didn't intend to know about.

Time to wait

On Saturday morning I was waiting at a Toronto A&W for my breakfast. Things were moving a tad slow compared to your expected fast food wait time.

This was my third morning eating A&W breakfast on that trip so I learned to expect at least a 10 minute wait. They have eggs from a shell and this girl needs the real deal.

The previous day I was in a hurry and all I had for breakfast was fruit. It left me weak feeling and hungry all day so that morning, I was prepared to wait as I knew the consequences of not eating.

The Day I Almost Lost My Man

This is the day it all began.

This very day 13 years ago, Mike asked me to be his girlfriend. One year after that, he said I love you for the first time.

Last year, this was the day he got lost, and I am every so thankful it was also the day he was found. One year later, I'm glad there are 4 things this day marks and not only 3.

The Day She Obeyed

Last Thursday, we arrived with a few minutes to spare. My mom friend leaned over to me and said, "Never have I prayed so much for a toddler sports class!" That made two of us

I was feeling a tad nervous- like it was a high stakes morning. She didn't know how nervous I was. Or maybe she did. She's smart like that.
